I have known Michael for 30 years and have enjoyed a long association, professionally and as a friend.
During the early 1980's, Michael ran an Antiques & furniture restoration business in Sydney's Lower North Shore.
Simultaneously, I had commenced an Antique furniture store called Flossoms and with the help of Michael, Flossoms was soon to become Sydney's largest specialist in Antique Pine furniture.
Michael Colin was proficient in all areas of restoration and his ability to handle the more difficult jobs, his attention to detail and his personalised hands-on approach helped the business of Flossoms become a house hold name on Sydney's North Shore and attain it's reputation as the Antique store to buy quality restorations.
When Michael moved to the UK and set up business there, we seized the opportunity to engage Michael in sourcing, restoring and exporting Antique English Pine Furniture.
Michael not only is an experienced Antique restorer and cabinet maker however also has a wealth of experience as an Antique dealer,so it was possible for Flossoms to rely on his personal sourcing and buying ability.
Throughout the 1990's Flossoms imported some 50 containers of English and Irish Pine Furniture, and many of those containers had been personally chosen and restored by Michael.
If you are considering using Michael for a restoration job, I can give you my assurance of the following:
He will give you really good personalised old fashioned hands on service.
Whether your job is a simple rejuvenation, conservation, full restoration or a specialised painted finish, his final result will most likely exceed your expectations.
Michael is one of the few restorers I've encountered who has the skills and know how at keeping your cost down, without compromising the quality.

I had my grandmothers dresser restored to the original french polish finish after it had been painted purple 40 years ago. It was a fantastic job with no sign of the purple anywhere. Cost was reasonable.
I also had a small side table repaired and refinished and again it was a excellent job.

Thrilled with the quality of restoration work on my beautiful Victorian slipper chair which I thought was smashed beyond repair. Michael`s skill & incredible attention to detail is remarkable & I recommend him to anyone needing a top quality result at a very reasonable cost. Can`t believe I found him in Gosford !

Michael Collin beautifully restored our family antique sideboard last year. It had great sentimental value. We were impressed with his knowledge, great care in handling the furniture, and his thoroughness in bringing the mirror, handles, hinges and wood back to its original state. He transformed the wood from a dull, dark mahogany looking colour to its original golden English oak. We did not hesitate to return to him for restoration of an old badly rusted cast iron pub table with a marked and pitted marble top. Once again, we were very happy with the end result and his professional service. I am confident in recommending Michael Collin's services.

Michael is a wonderful listener. Once he had assessed the beautiful yet damaged old pieces, he quietly suggested what could work well. It is obvious that Michael is an experienced specialist and a real craftsman. We will definitely be using Michael's services again and strongly recommend his services.

Michael is an exceptional furniture craftsman for Furniture Restoration & Repair, Antique Restoration & Repairs and/or Cabinetry Maker. It was an absolute delight to find someone that is professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable regarding my damaged wood concerns. Michael is a passionate and excellent craftsman. He explained the history of my furniture, the type and character of the wood, how to care and fix my stressful problem of wood damage. As someone who has little understanding of furniture restoration, I asked a lot of questions. Michael answered all my concerns in a respectful and simple fashion. I really appreciated this. Michael came out quickly to assess my damage, after I sent him pictures via my phone. He examined and resolved all my problems. It was a pleasure to talk to Michael regarding restoring my furniture. I highly recommend Michael. His service was reasonably priced and nothing seemed too hard. I will definitely use his services again.

In 2014, we needed a restorer for our freeform jarrah dining table. So it was pleasing to learn of Michael’s “around us” restoration service! Following his advice, we commissioned Michael to French polish it, happily he returned it to us in its former glory! During 2015, Michael is restoring our ‘80s radiata pine kitchen cabinetry. This first included his knowledgeable advice then work in progress hands-on expertise with resurfacing of the kitchen bench-tops/drawer fronts in Danish oil plus polyurethane resurfacing of pine panel cupboard doors. Michael has a genuine interest in your needs, takes the time to consult and displays good old fashioned and hard to find craftsmanship. We are very pleased to recommend Michael to those seeking help with all things timber furniture, cabinetry and the like - be it restoration, preservation or conservation.

Michael completed several jobs for us - from a chair repair to re-surfacing decorative tables to repairing moving damage to an antique dresser. In all these jobs, the finishes were remarkable - his dedication to high quality craftsmanship is, in our experience, unmatched. Added to which he completed the jobs in the time he estimated and, on one occasion was able to accelerate a finish to meet a deadline we had. We highly commend him for his expertise, his professionalism and his good nature.

Michael was very professional and did a wonderful job on our 60's Parker dining room chairs. We would not hesitate to use his services again and plan to in the near future.

Michael was thoroughly professional in both attitude and skills. He visited three times to assess and repair a damaged table and we were incredibly impressed by the finished article, not to mention the amazing value for money. I would definitely use his services again.
